What is the difference between this product and other brand name antiviral drugs:Generic versions of brand name antivirals are more affordable than brand name drugs like Aciclovir ( 400mg) and Zovirax ( 5% cream). Acyclovir (FDA-approved for herpes labialis) is the most commonly prescribed antiviral brand, but generic versions may be more cost-effective than Aciclovir ( 400mg) for treating genital herpes outbreaks. If you are allergic to aciclovir or any of the other ingredients of this product, you should not take this medicine. What is the recommended dosage of this medicine?
For genital herpes, this medicine is usually taken once or twice a day. For herpes labialis, this medicine is usually taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a viral infection. Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose and gradually increase it. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. If you have not been prescribed this medicine, you should wash your hands before and after getting out of the house.
What happens if you miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take the medicine as soon as you can, but only take it when you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, you should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not take two doses at one time. If you are taking this medicine after a long period of treatment, you may experience some side effects.
