Aciclovir is an antiviral medication used to treat cold sores and genital herpes. It is used to treat symptoms of and cold sores on the mouth and vagina, and cold sores on the lips, around the throat, and about the lips.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor as many times as you want. The dose may be restricted to a maximum of 12 tablets in a single day. Tablets may be replaced every day at any one time.
Keep all doctor's orders for this medicine from the pharmacy. If you need to get back, have to buy you dosage information again, may be taken only prescription tablets, and should not be taken in larger amounts as do not require medical treatment.
For oral use, only need to take this before intercourse is suspended. This medicine is to be used between 15 minutes and 4.25 hours before intercourse.
Dr Fox warns that alcohol can increase the risk of developing a cold sore. Always ensure you tell your doctor if you have any thoughts or symptoms you are unsure about and remind your doctor if you get in further risk of becoming ill.

Valtrex (valaciclovir) cream is a topical treatment for herpes virus infections, which can be applied to the head or neck of the face. You can use aciclovir cream as a primary treatment for cold sores on the lips, or as a post-exposure prophylaxis after the first dose.
When used to treat shingles, aciclovir cream should be applied on the head of the head or neck, as instructed by your doctor. If you have a herpes infection, your doctor will tell you to apply the cream to the affected areas first.
The cream can be applied in different parts of the body, including the face, neck, and shoulders.
